They could have been straight out of “Pirates of the Caribbean” when Emma Roberson Elementary School administrators and staff dressed up in Pirate garb to read for classes in recognition of International Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19, 2019.
Roberson students enjoyed hearing from the group reading Pirate-themed children’s books.
Joining in the fun were principal Kellie Lambert and other campus personnel.
The Student Library Advisory Committee (nicknamed SLACKers) from Granbury Middle School also traveled to Roberson to help. The GMS student group meets regularly to discuss books and authors and travel to regional book festivals. Students also organize the GMS Book Gifting Day at the end of the school year to provide all students with a free book to read during the summer.
International Talk Like a Pirate Day is observed annually each September 19.
