In what he and his family believe are trumped-up, politically-motivated charges, former United States Marine Trevor R. Reed was sentenced Thursday to nine years in a Russian prison for a drunken incident in which he allegedly assaulted two police officers. Reed’s mother Paula said that her husband Joey will remain in Russia for the time being as the case is appealed. The Reeds moved to Hood County seven or eight years ago. They believe that the charges against 29-year-old Trevor are likely part of a prisoner exchange scheme as told to the Hood County News.
