Granbury ISD campus and district leadership traveled to Dallas on July 23, 2019, for team-building activities during a day-long retreat.

In Dallas, the group visited both the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza – which honors the life of President John F. Kennedy assassinated in the city on November 22, 1963 – and the Dallas Holocaust Museum.

“The retreat is about networking and building leadership capacity in our district,” commented superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn.

The leadership theme for the 2019-20 school year is based on the quote “A rising tide raises all boats,” which was delivered by President Kennedy in an August 1962 speech in Pueblo, Colorado.

Glenn remarked, “Our goal is to reinforce the belief that success anywhere in our district is shared. Our leaders understand that we rise and fall as a team.”

Visiting the two museums remind the team to learn from the past, create exciting learning opportunities for students, and have a clear vision and high expectations for students moving forward, according to the superintendent.

“Today’s retreat reinforced our administrative belief that our leaders are here to serve and engage the world around us,” Glenn said.

Joining in the leadership retreat were assistant superintendents, department directors, principals, assistant principals, as well as curriculum and technology coordinators.
