The Granbury ISD Board of Trustees approved the appointment of campus principals for Acton Middle School and Nettie Baccus Elementary School during a special meeting on May 26, 2020.

The board approved recommendations of superintendent Dr. Jeremy Glenn to appoint Jennifer Pennington as AMS principal and Julie Rohleder as Baccus principal.

“From the beginning our administrative team was looking to fill both positions with strong instructional leaders,” said Dr. Glenn, “Today we are excited to recommend two outstanding administrators with proven track records of improving student performance.”

Pennington follows Jimmy Dawson, who was previously named the new director of the GISD career and technical education department.  Meanwhile, Rohleder succeeds Robert Herrera, who will be joining the staff at the STEAM Academy at Mambrino as an administrator.

The AMS instructional specialist since 2018, Pennington came to Granbury from Yuma, Arizona.  She most recently worked as assistant principal of academics at Kofa High School and as assistant principal of activities at Cibola High School.  Pennington began her career as a teacher and instructional coach at Gila Ridge High School.

Pennington holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Grand Canyon University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from Florida Southern College.

Rohleder is currently the principal of Caddo Grove Elementary School in Joshua ISD.  She previously worked in Joshua from 2009 until 2013 as an assistant principal at A.G. Elder Elementary School and later as a district curriculum coordinator for elementary education.  Rohleder spent two prior years as an assistant principal at Keene Elementary School.  She began her career in 1997 teaching and serving as a math specialist in Joshua, where she worked at both North Joshua Elementary School and H.D. Staples Elementary School.

The new Baccus principal holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Tarleton State University and a bachelor’s degree in education from Texas Wesleyan University.
