Flat Rock Shooting Investigation
On Saturday 4-25-2020 at approximately 6:26 pm, several calls came into the Somervell County Sheriff’s Office 911 call center reporting shots fired at 1296 County Road 1008 which is commonly referred to as “Flat Rocks”.
One caller advised numerous shots were fired and one victim was reported to have a gunshot wound to his neck.
Upon arrival, Officers determined the victim had left the scene in a private vehicle and was transported to the Granbury Medical Center where he was later flown by Care Flight to JPS Hospital in Ft Worth. The victim sustained severe injuries but were not considered to be life threatening.
Officers on-scene were also able to determine the suspect had already fled the scene. Numerous videos were taken of the incident by private citizens and upon viewing of the videos, the suspect was a known person to Officers at the scene.
After an intensive investigation by this office and assisted by the Texas Rangers, an arrest warrant was issued for Mark Brian Knox, age 20, for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon which is a second degree felony. Additional charges are pending.
Knox was arrested on 4-26-2020 at approximately 10:10pm when the suspect turned himself in to authorities at the Somervell County Sheriff’s Office.
On 4-27-2020, Knox was arraigned on the Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge and his bond was set at $250,000.00.
The investigation is ongoing.
